Parker Dam State Park

Located 17 miles north of Clearfield, off PA Route 153, Parker Dam State Park is a favorite spot for many. The park offers camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, swimming and is a great place to take that Sunday picnic. The dam was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) shortly after the flood of 1936 to replace a dam that was built in 1934 and washed out by the flood.

When the dam was replaced in 1936 a large spillway was added to handle the flood waters. Most area kids spent at least one afternoon jumping from rock to rock at the base of the spillway.
The 20 acre lake is stocked with brook trout for both spring and winter fishing so any time is a good time to try your luck. If the fish aren't biting you can rent a paddleboat or rowboat and explore the entire lake.
