With an eight o'clock start time, you'll want to rise early for this race. But with the early start traffic will be at a minimum, and with necessary road blocks in place it will insure an enjoyable, safe race.
The race will begin in downtown Clearfield, PA, at the corner of East Cherry and South Third Streets, just two blocks from the Clearfield County Courthouse. The race will run south on Third Street approximately a half mile. Turning left (south) on Route 153 the race travels a mile out of town to SR2023 (Glen Richey Highway). Here you'll encounter the longest climb on the course as it starts as a stepping grade and then a one mile hill. This should break the pack up a bit. After the climb the course continues south on SR2023 through the town of Glen Richey to O'Shanter. This is an approximately 5 mile rolling to flat stretch with excellent road surface. In the small village of O'Shanter the course picks up SR2022 which it follows west along Little Clearfield Creek, 2.6 miles to Olanta. At Olanta the course turns right (north) onto Route 453, passes the entrance to Curwensville Lake and climbs gradually 2.5 miles to Bloomington. Here the course bears right onto Bloomington Avenue Extension which it follows 2 miles to Curwensville. This stretch includes a mile and half downhill, where when you glance into the valley below, you'll get your first glimpse of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. In Curwensville, after crossing a bridge over the West Branch, you'll turn right (east) onto Route 879 which you'll follow back to Route 153 and into Clearfield. This is a 6 mile flat run along the river. You can make it your own personal time trial or get a pace line you won't forget. You'll enter Clearfield on South Second Street where the race ends at the intersection of South Second Street and Leavy Avenue.
